Privacy Policy

Huda is a free Islamic companion app. You can use it without an account, and most of what you do in it stays on your own device. This page explains what leaves your device, and why.

Without an account

Your reading progress, bookmarks, dhikr counts, streaks and settings are stored in your browser's local storage. They are not sent to us.

If you create an account

Accounts are optional and exist only to sync your data across devices. We store:

• Your email address and a securely hashed password (handled by our authentication provider, Supabase).
• The app data you choose to sync: last-read position, reading plan and khatm progress, dhikr and tasbeeh counts, streak, theme, font size and preferred reciter.

Location

Prayer times and the Qibla direction depend on where you are. If you allow it, your browser's location is used to calculate prayer times on your device. To show your city name or look up a city you type, coordinates or the search text are sent to OpenStreetMap Nominatim, and dates and coordinates may be sent to the Aladhan API. If you don't share your location, an approximate location is estimated from your IP address using GeoJS. We do not store your location on our servers.

AI explanations

When you tap ✦ Explain, the verse reference and its text are sent to our server, which uses Anthropic's Claude to produce a summary grounded in Tafsir Ibn Kathir. Explanations are cached per verse and are not linked to you. To enforce a daily usage limit, we record a daily count against your account ID or, if you are signed out, your IP address.

Analytics

We use Vercel Web Analytics to count visits and see which features are used. It sets no cookies and does not track you across sites or visits. We do not sell your data or use it for advertising, and Huda shows no ads.

Quran audio and text

Recitations and Quran text are loaded from public sources such as Islamic Network, EveryAyah, MP3Quran, QuranicAudio and Quran.com. Those servers receive standard request information, such as your IP address, when audio or text is fetched.

Your choices

• Clearing your browser's site data removes everything stored on your device.
• To delete your account and synced data, email us at hudaguidance8@gmail.com from the address you signed up with.

Children

Huda includes learning content suitable for children, but accounts are intended for users aged 13 and over.

If this policy changes, we will update the date at the top of this page.
